Have you ever wondered why the good lord will not just solve all the evils in the world? You are not alone. Many of us wonder why the world is in so much pain when God is so good. We have found simple answers from the word of God and one of them is PRAYER OF INTERCESSION
God is willing and ready to intervene "if" man is READY to intercede. Hear this:
‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you". [Jeremiah 33:3. Jeremiah 29:11-12]
However, God's readiness to intervene is based on human readiness to intercede.
"And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none". [Ezekiel 22:30].
Here, the Scripture reveals that God regretted when there was no one to pray for His intervention. From this, it is abundantly clear that God is willing to answer when we call. - He will never ignore our prayer and allow us to suffer in the hands of Satan the adversary. However, God will also not intervene if we choose to not intercede. This is because God has given man the right and the freedom to have dominion on the earth. "The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men". Psalm 115:16. God ordained it from the very beginning of creation: "Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28
For God to intervene in man's affairs without man's intercession will be to invade and violate the freedom He gave to man to manage His affairs and have dominion. This is the just side of God that makes Him the Judge of all. But there is also the mercy side of God that makes Him willing and ready to respond to prayers any time we intercede for others or when other people intercede for us.
We find numerous examples from scriptures and life that prove this to be the case.
Lot and his family were spared from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah only because Abraham interceded for him –(See Gen 18:17-32).
Peter and James were (disciples of Jesus Christ) were both arrested by the King Herod (See Acts 12). Herod executed James and was waiting to do the same thing to Peter in a matter of days. But the church rose up to intercede for Peter. God intervened and Peter was released. Both men were in the same situation but while one was freed the other was executed. Why? Prayer of Intercession. Peter was released from Prison only when the church rose up to intercede. James on the other hand was executed by King Herod in the same scenario that Peter was in because the church did not intercede for him.
Divine intervention is based on human intercession
Jesus taught and modeled this truth: Matt 7:7-8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
The Apostles followed the footsteps of Jesus: James 4:2-3 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Ye you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures
Today's church of Jesus Christ cannot be different: If we want God to intervene, we must intercede. The good news is that God has revealed the simple conditions for His intervention:
2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place:
1. God's People. The responsibility of prayer is on God's people; and only God's people can intercede for others.
2. God's People must humble themselves, pray and seek God's face for God to intercede.
3. God's People must turn from their 'known' sinful ways for God to intervene
Are you willing to intercede for God to intervene in our families, schools, communities, nations and world? Then come up to the mountain where God's People are joining forces in the mountain prayer movement and spiritual awakening in our land.
Jesus is Lord!
